Light The Night Walk:
Taking Steps Toward Cures

Nyack Memorial Park, Nyack, NY
October 17, 2009

Each year, in communities all across the United States and Canada, families, friends, neighbors and teams from local businesses and national companies come together for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS's) Light The Night Walk events to bring help and hope to people battling blood cancers.

Light The Night Walk events are evenings filled with inspiration. Carrying illuminated balloons - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer - thousands of walkers - men, women and children - form a community of caring, bringing light to the dark world of cancer.

This year we walked in support of finding a cure and our friend Jeff Bloom - Survivor

Jeff Bloom
Jeff Bloom was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL) in the spring of 2006. After three months of aggressive chemotheraphy, followed by 22 days of radiation, Jeff was considered in remission. During that time, Jeff lost his hair, which upset his seven-year-old daughter. She decided to do her part to help by donating her long hair to "Locks for Love," which uses human hair to make wigs for children receiving cancer treatments.
